Catherine Britt will of course be joining the SSMF line up!

Catherine Britt has a voice that instantly gets your attention… but unlike others, it is the craftsmanship of this singer/songwriter who unashamedly boasts a worthy story to tell that truly keeps her audience enthralled.

She has lived a life in the world of entertainment most will never experience or dream of! The Aussie girl from the coal works of Newcastle uprooted herself at 17 years old and moved for six years to Nashville TN (USA) where she gained a deep knowledge of country/roots/folk history as well as touring extensively and releasing top 40 Billboard hits.

Her recording career commenced in 1999 when at the tender age of 14 she released her first EP followed in 2001 by her debut album release. Since then she has released five more studio albums as well as a “Best of” album and has collected along the way accolades, a legion of fans and a mantel of awards including the country industry’s highest honours, 2009 CMAA Female Artist of the Year Award, 2012 CMAA Single of the Year, 2013 CMAA Female Artist of the Year Award, 2016 Female Artist of the Year as well as APRA Award and CMC Artist of the Year nominations. Every one of Catherine’s 6 albums released to date has been nominated for the ARIA Award for the Best Country Album release, which is a first for any Australian country artist. In 2010, Catherine was also presented with the CMA Global Artist of the Year award.

Catherine Britt’s talent has also seen her tour, perform and record with some of music’s most respected names including Kasey Chambers, Paul Kelly, Sir Elton John, Don McLean, Chris Isaac, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Guy Clark and Keith Urban to name but a few.

Catherine Britt remains to this day the youngest Australian to ever perform at the Grand Ole Opry at the tender age of 17.

Not only is she an accomplished singer/songwriter, she has also proved herself as a formidable interviewer and comfortable host in her role since February 2012 of Australia’s national radio broadcast of ABC Saturday Night Country showcasing her own flavour on the popular program each week. She also shines on television as the host of CMC’s ‘Alt Country’ program and now as the Managing Editor & Owner of Australia’s ONLY Roots Music Magazine – Rhythms.

Whilst her credentials to date are enough for most, Britt’s drive to better herself and continue to improve, as an artist is what has led her to continue on as one of Australia’s most successful Singer/Songwriters and businesswomen.

John Williamson Announced as festival headliner!!

John Williamson Announced as festival headliner!!

He is firmly cemented in the nation’s musical culture, his impressive career spans more than forty years. He has survived and soared in the often cut-throat entertainment industry. His unofficial anthems, tributes to legends and unsung heroes and tender ballads have captured the spirit of the nation in song unlike any other. His honest and passionate songs are synonymous with the country that inspires him and connect him with his countrymen regardless of age, sex or creed.

Add to this his ability to deliver unforgettable live concert experiences that combine the perfect blend of humour, romance and campfire stories woven together by his music. You can understand why he is one of the most in-demand live performers in Australia.

Inducted into the ARIA HALL OF FAME in 2010 and the recipient of more awards than he cares to mention, there is no question that JOHN WILLIAMSON is the real deal, stands by what he represents and is unashamedly proud of the country he loves. For this artist, whilst the awards are a nice recognition, there is no doubt it is the reaction from his audience that is the most important.

Along his journey he has been inducted into the prestigious ARIA Hall of Fame, secured three ARIA Awards, 25 Golden Guitars, MO Awards, APRA Awards, Platinum and Gold albums and over 4 million album sales to name just some of the recognition he has earnt.

It all started when he penned that classic OLD MAN EMU back in 1970. From this ‘silly’ song (as he often refers to it) that went to #1 for five weeks, he has continued to create hits including TRUE BLUE, COOTAMUNDRA WATTLE, RIP RIP WOODCHIP, RAINING ON THE ROCK, THE BIG RED, WINTER GREEN, SALISBURY STREET, GALLERIES OF PINK GALAHS and HAWKESBURY RIVER LOVIN’ to name but a few of the 400+ songs written by the multi-award winning songwriter.

He continues to be at the forefront of significant events in Australia, presenting the voice of Australia when it is needed most. From the 2011 Rugby League Grand Final through to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Steve Irwin's memorial, the Bledlisloe Cup, Sir Donald Bradman's memorial, the Rugby World Cup, the first Bali Bombings memorial service and the list goes on. He is ingrained in Australia's history as much as its future.

Accolades and awards though have never been a huge deal to John Williamson; it has always been about the fans to the ever humble ex-farmer. Even after what he has achieved, or what he has been invited to be a part of, he remains nonchalant about it all.

You can call him what you want, Mallee Boy, True Blue or just plain Fair Dinkum; but there is no denying that after more than forty years in the music industry, John Williamson is truly an Australian icon.

John released his new album ‘HONEST PEOPLE’, his 50th album release in July 2014 in conjunction with his autobiography release ‘ HEY TRUE BLUE’ and is touring Australia performing his biggest hits to sold out shows.

I discovered early Rock’n’Roll, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. In recent times I’ve been particularly influenced by the Texas Singer/Songwriters”. When you see Bill Chambers live on stage its evident that his music reflects his early influences and resonates with stories of his life on the road.

Fanny Lumsden Joins the 2018 SSMF lineup!

Hailing from a farm in western NSW Fanny Lumsden is ‘a breath of fresh country air’ according to Rolling Stone Magazine and was just been named QANTAS New Talent Of The Year at the recent CMAA Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth and Country Music Channel New Artist of the year at the CMC Awards on the Gold Coast.

Her debut, crowdfunded record Small Town Big Shot, produced by award winning Matt Fell, debuted at #6 on the ARIA Chart and went on to be nominated for Best Country Album at the 2016 ARIA Awards. All three of her singles from the record have reached #1 on CMC with her single Land of Gold reaching #3 on the CMC top 100 for 2016 and gaining the highest Australian placed film clip for the year. With three golden Guitar nominations, three CMC Award nominations it’s no wonder ‘I love Fanny’ is the words on everyone’s lips.

No stranger to the road, 2016 saw Fanny and her right hand man Dan Stanley Freeman drive over 60,00kms living their little old caravan playing shows from Tasmania to Broome and back again and then heading straight back out on the road for festivals and their sold out, 5th Annual Country Halls Tour

Fanny has recently been out on the road with Troy Casser-Daly and is currently touring with Amber Lawrence and Catherine Britt on the Love and Lies tour.
